- Description
The dark brown(also known as "chocolate" or "cognac" or "champagne" "amber" "clove" "tobacco" or simply "fancy") Diamond was originally used for industrial purposes. In 1986, the Argyle Mine in Australia was opened, and 80% of the Diamonds coming out of the mine currently are brown color. In the 1950's, a Diamond cutter introduced the descriptive names like champagne and cognac to increase the desirability of brown Diamonds. Today, brown Diamonds are highly popular, with a wide variety of shades and variations to choose from. The warmth of the color and character helps to bring out this special Diamond's individuality.
